The Story Behind the Shirt
Anyone can appreciate the sound of a military jet from a safe distance. It's impressive. It's powerful. It's the sound of American air power. But if you ever worked around the AV-8B Harrier, you know there was nothing quiet about it. You didn't just hear a Harrier. You felt it.
The Harrier was unlike anything else. Watching it perform a vertical or short takeoff was incredible, especially when you were only a few feet away. The ground shook. Your chest vibrated. Loose equipment rattled. You could literally feel the sound moving through your body. Even with hearing protection, there were times when the roar seemed to find its way through everything.
The Waiting

Unlike a jet that quickly screams down the runway and disappears, the Harrier often stayed close while climbing into the air. The noise didn't last for a few seconds. It stayed with you. Minute after minute, that unmistakable roar pounded your ears while you stood on the flight line, marshaled aircraft, serviced equipment, fueled jets, or simply waited for the next launch. One Harrier wasn't bad enough. Then another launched. Then another. By the end of the day, silence almost sounded strange.
